Fall into Reading

So, I was looking at the blog Callapider Days and I saw the post Fall into reading. I read it and I liked the sound of having a small "read-a-thon" with the list of books and the certain time period.

I thought I'd join it.

So, here are my list of books that I would like to finish before December 22:
  • The Duff
  • Linger
  • Paranormalcy
  • Firelight
  • Clockwork Angel
  • City of Bones
Those are the MAJOR ones so far. I will keep a sidebar thing with the pending books.

Hey, hey, hey!

Guess what?

The Goblins have finally spoken and given me the name of the winner for the TYGER, TYGER giveaway! They promised to to do any harm as long as annouce the winner.

Here it goes!

Drum roll pleeease

The winner is Nikki!

Congratulations Nikki! I will be sending an e-mail your way! If you don't reply within 48 hours I'm going to have to choose another winner.

Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

I'm choosing to Speak Loudly

It took me a long time to really think this through. I don't really know how to start something so controversial as this.

Yes, I'm only a teen, but I understand.

This guy-Mr. Scroggins-is on my Crap List. 'Speak' is a great book in teaching you that you should say something, not keep it hidden. He wants to ban it? If you don't want your children reading it, fine, don't let them. There are a lot of parents who allow their children to read these books because of the meaning that is hidden under them.

My one question Mr. Scroggins, in your article you said quote
Equally shocking is the content of the high school English classes. In high school English classes, children are required to read and view material that should be classified as soft pornography.
Since when was rape considered pornography? Pornography is meant for arousement, right? How can you EVER consider rape that?

We are already hearing all of this stuff about rape and cussing on the news, on T.V. What's next? Are television shows going to be banned now too just because of their content?

Censorship is stupid and wrong. What's the point of it if we're going to hear it in our everday lives? If you censor things like this now, how do you think someone is going to react when faced with it in life?

Mr. Scroggins, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I hope you know, your opinion is saying "to shup up and keep quiet."

Now, Slaughterhouse Five has been removed and even Twenty Boy Summer is under review. Watch, now after this Speak and many books like it may be removed from school libraries.

You can choose to stop this from happening. You can choose to help stop this man from taking away so many books that may be inspiring to students, parents, teachers ANYONE. Even Laurie Halse Anderson wrote about this on her blog.
  1. Leave a comment on Scroggin's Post
  2. Blog about this and send it on
  3. Follow the hastag #SpeakLoudly on Twitter
There are ways we can stop censorship, but we need everyone to unite and fight for it. Anyone with me? Leave your comments with your thoughts and if you've spread the word. We need to stop this guy from impacting what we read.

Thank you all who join in to Speak Loudly. To speak in one voice.

Finally it's come in the MAIL.

LINGER is finally here! I'm so happy I can just squeal! Oh wait I already did. It's so beautiful!

Though, I can't read it yet because I need to finish Immortal Beloved and Mockingjay. Yes I know I'm a fail. Shoot me.

Anyway. I must go to my Highschool Open House.

The Post in Which I Talk About Nothing

Yes, I know, I haven't posted. I've been working on my story. (: And because I've been so dedicated in the last few days I finally reached the half-way point to 50K words! *crowd cheers in background* I know exciting right? Another goal reached, I reached the one-quater goal to 100K. *crickets* Thanks for the support...

So I'm currently reading Immortal Beloved. Little, Brown was nice enough to consider and send it to me. The post should be up soon, though I don't know when I'll finish it (Story stuff. LiveJournal stuff. Giveaway stuff, school etc.). But, I will finish as soon as possible.

Speaking of school I have History Homework I need to do... *coughs* You didn't hear that..

I'm about to finish writing up my playlist for my book and WHEN I DO I will post it up here so all you wonderful blog readers (and contest enterers) *cough* can listen to it. (: I have no shame.

I will talk to all of you soon!

Title: Awakened
Author: Ednah Walters
Release date: Information Pending
Rating: 4.5/5
Publisher: Pill Hill Press
Book Summary:
Most teens turn sixteen and get the license to drive, but Lil Falcon gets the license to kill demons.
Orphaned as a child and raised by an eccentric grandfather, Lil is concerned with surviving high school and is unaware that she's a Guardian--a being with super powers charged with lilling demons and protecting humanity. When she meets Bran, a mysterious boy with amazing abilities, his psi energy unlocks her latent powers.
But Bran has a secret that can ruin their growing relationship, and the truth she discovers may destroy everything she believes in unlsess she finds the right balance between love and sacrifice.

It starts off mysterious and puzzling, you really don't know what's going on and why she's hearing this strange voice.

Then you meet Bran.

Oh. My. Gosh. Bran.

What can I say about him? Cute, funny, mysterious. The best guy EVER. (Right next to Peeta) ☺

The powers and the plot are great, it flows and answers questions one by one as the story goes on. i.e. The Nephilim. Who are they? Why do the Hermonites do what they do? (I kept it censored so you have to read to find out what they do ☺) Who exactly is Bran?

The characters are very strong. I love Lil. She is strong-willed and she'll kill to save the ones she loves. Her relationships with Remy, Skyes, Izzy and Kim grow strong and help her out towards the end of the book. When Lil needs it most. Bran. I know I told you about him before, but his dark past and his mysterious-ness really make him. He's a strong character that will do anything to redeem himself.

It keeps you ready for something to suddenly come out and surprise you. You never know what she'll discover, what she'll see, what she'll do, you may think something BAM something completely opposite throws your guess into the dirt. ☺ (That happened to me once..) I think my favorite was that SUPER AMAZING SPECIAL TWIST THAT YOU CAN ONLY FIND OUT BY READING IT. ☺

Be sure to pick up this book. (I will post the date as soon as I find out)
